Xiaomi Mi 10 5G Smartphone Review: A well-Embraced Flagship
Intending to extend the Mi Series, the Chinese tech firm launched the Xiaomi Mi 10 Series smartphones on February 13. It is the pair of Xiaomi Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro smartphones to hit the launchpad this time with almost identical specs-sheet and external appearance. We will differentiate the duo sometime later. Today, we will take on the Xiaomi Mi 10 review to inquest its various specifications and capabilities to withstand the competition.
Xiaomi has enlisted a massive range of flagship handsets under the Mi-branding. In 2019, we came across the Mi 9 Series with lots of shouting algorithms inside. This year, the company also has strived well again with the latest pair of flagship devices. Both handsets configure the high-end qualities to be masterpieces of the current scenario.
We have also reviewed the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro phone earlier in a dedicated text article. Today, we are here to examine the regular edition both physically and technically. At the prima facia, both the Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro look similar physically with some minor differences in the feature-sheet.
When it comes to checking the Mi 10 device, it is a slim and portable 5G development with Android OS and Qualcomm processor under the hood. The front side is designed with the curvy display and hole-punch selfie camera. The biggest surprise is that Xiaomi retains the 108MP rear camera prospect that we first saw on the Mi Note 10. Moreover, the punch-hole style is also the new introduction to any Mi Series phone ever.
Xiaomi Mi 10: Price and Availability
Let’s have a look at the price figures of various sub-variants. The Xiaomi Mi 10 will cost you CNY 3,999 (roughly INR 40,900) for the base 8GB/128GB variant. Further, the 8GB/256GB and 12GB/256GB models are priced at CNY 4,299 (roughly INR 43,900) and CNY 4,699 (roughly INR 48,000).
What about the availability? Well, the Xiaomi Mi 10 handset has already appeared for preorders in China with a plan to hit the sales right from the 14th of February. It also looks pleasant for the Indian audience to know that the company is thinking of launching the same series in India as well. No Mi Series made its way to India after the Mi 5 Series. But now the things are expected to change this year as indicated by the Xiaomi India head Manu Kumar Jain. It is still a mystery how long it will take to land Indian soil.
Xiaomi Mi 10 Review: What are the Specifications and Features?
Curious to know the design and technical features of the brand-new Xiaomi Mi 10 phone? Let’s analyze the specs in detail without any further ado.
Design and Construction
This is the area that captures everyone’s attention at most. Admittedly, the physical appearance and build of the new Mi handset are dramatically fabulous. The manufacturer assembles the slim and lightweight body using the aluminum alloy material. On the top, it also wears the Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection layer to be wear-resistant and scratch-proof.
Moreover, the exterior is great and straightforward with a glossy and delicate texture. The front face adopts the fully-curved glass display measuring 6.67” diagonally. It also presents the punch-hole selfie snapper to add further excitement. On the backside, the Xiaomi Mi 10 approves the quad-cam module along with the dual-LED flashlight on the upper left corner.
Xiaomi flaunts the device in three colour choices – Peach Gold, Ice Blue, and Titanium Silver. The dual-SIM 5G smartphone weighs 208g and measures 162.6×74.8×9 mm, just like its big brother.
Let’s have some words on the display panel of the Mi 5G device. It integrates the carbon copy of its professional sibling with 6.67” diagonal touch display and other parameters. Like the Pro variant, the Xiaomi Mi 10 also features the Super AMOLED FHD+ capacitive screen with 2340x1080p resolution and 386 PPI pixels density.
Furthermore, the company also embraces the display with HDR10+ and DCI-P3 modules. It supports the 90Hz refresh rate besides the 180Hz touch sampling rate. To be visible in the direct sunlight, 500 nits of brightness level seems promising at the job.
Software and Processor
It will be of no amaze if the Mi 10 phone runs the Android 10 out-of-the-box OS to obtain the top-end performance at all levels. The system comes with various inbuilt apps to cater to your current digital needs. It also wears the MIUI 11 skin on top for a better user interface.
The CPU circuit also perceives the same chipset unit as the Pro version. It is the Qualcomm snapdragon 865 octa-core SoC to offer smoother and speedy operation at lower power consumption. Similarly, the GPU also embeds the Adreno 650 chip to help graphical outputs.
The photography department sounds exceptional with the 108MP primary shooter among three others. It is a wide f/1.7 lens with PDAF and OIS support. Further, the Xiaomi Mi 10 smartphone equips the 13MP 123-degree ultrawide, 2MP depth and 2MP macro camera.
When it comes to taking selfies, you will use the 20MP f/2.0 HDR shooter. It provides the Mimoji Cute Shot, AI Camera, 3D Beauty, and Panorama features.
As we mentioned earlier, the regular edition of the Xiaomi Mi 10 series comes in three storage variants. You can pick the 8GB/128GB, 8GB/256GB, and 12GB/256GB storage variant as per your needs and budget. It configures the LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.0 storage formats. Sadly, there is no space to insert an external SD card.
Unlike the Mi 10 Pro, the Xiaomi Mi 10 installs a bit larger 4780 mAh Li-Po non-removable battery. It further offers 30W wired charging along with the 30W wireless and 10W reverse charging facility.
In other specs, the Xiaomi Mi 10 smartphone captures the dual 5G SIM support, Bluetooth 5.1 with aptX and LE, WIFI 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax, WIFI-direct, Hotspot, speakers, infrared port, NFC, OTG, Type-C, GPS, GLONASS, in-display fingerprint scanner, and some others. It also misses the FM radio and 3.5mm audio jack like the Pro version.
