The box in which the smartphone came, I liked it even more. It is the same size as Note, but the finishing materials are much better – rough white paper, embossing the logo, it all looks very beautiful, and there is a feeling that I bought a worthwhile thing.
Inside the box, we find the smartphone itself in the transported package and immediately it is worth noting the second important change – now the tray where the smartphone is lying has a tongue – pull it and pull the smartphone out of the box. This is a trifle, but very convenient and so does only an apple company, as far as I know. In the tray under the smartphone, all the printing is hidden, very high-quality and bright, although useless, as well as a film for the display and a special cloth for wiping the display.
Design and Build Quality
Outwardly Geotel Amigo has several distinctive features from competitors. First, a vertical front flash and a talking speaker. The first time you need to get used to because to hear the voice of the interlocutor perfectly, the output should be sent directly to the ear.
Secondly, on the back side, besides a fast and stable working fingerprint scanner, there is a large circle with a metal elevation along the contour. Inside it, there is a double flash and a camera.
Amigo is mostly metal. It’s black, nice, matte, prints a little bit, but it’s easy to wipe them. Both ends are covered with plastic. On the top, there is a 3.5 mm audio output and a micro USB port, on the bottom only a microphone. On sale, there is in gold and will be in bright red.
The multimedia speaker is small in size and is silenced if you place the handset upside down. There are no comments on the quality of playback, but the maximum volume is small. Do not save even improvements through the settings menu.
After the first acquaintance with the smartphone, it seemed to me that Amigo was not folding. But when it came to the installation of SIM-cards, the pull-out slot could not be found.
It turns out the cover is removable, but it sits so tightly that there are no complaints about the quality of assembly. Although there are places with a small amount of dust, especially at the junction of the display and the case. But this does not influence the external attractiveness.
Under the cover, there are two seats for SIM mini and micro, and one for microSD. So, we do not limit ourselves to two-dimensionality. The device can work in GSM networks (850/900/1800/1900 MHz), 3G (900/2100 MHz) and 4G LTE (1/3/7/8/20). Interestingly, the Wi-Fi chip allows you to connect to AC networks. Bluetooth has version 4.2. GPS is present.
The smartphone weighs 160 g and has very compact dimensions (150.55 x 74.53 x 9.3 mm). For my hand it is ideal, and during the testing, it has got used to Geotel Amigo more than usual.
Hardware and Performance
The processor in this phone is not among the fastest in the frequency – only 1.3 GHz. But we must admit that the 8-core MediaTek MTK6753 (Mali-T720) copes with all everyday tasks and even more. Because the RAM here is 3 GB. And this positively affects the speed of loading programs and games, and all other multimedia features. Places for installing their applications is enough – 32 GB and they are more than 25 GB free. You can install your card up to 256 GB or connect a USB flash drive via USB OTG.
In fact, by lowering the graphics detail settings, you can play even in heavy 3D simulators. Full HD and HD content go without breaks.
Although it will be enough and HD because the resolution of the 5.2-inch display is exactly this – 1280×720. Aspect ratio 16: 9. The screen received an excellent oleophobic coating, an automatic backlight adjustment sensor and a multi-touch for five simultaneous touches. In the settings is available option Miravision and separately rendered white balance adjustment, which is sometimes very convenient.
In general, the display liked, the grain size is not visible on it, the maximum value of the backlight helps out in any situation, but there is no information on the part of the protective glass.
Android 7.0 (Nougat) OS
As regards the stability and speed of the interface, Geotel Amigo has everything in order. Android 7.0 was not supplemented with any software. In the settings, you can only find the Smartwake option menu, where you can perform a pre-set action using the screen and finger movement. The user can also change the order of the position of the touch buttons.
If you watch a lot of videos, then a full charge of the battery is enough for 7 hours of viewing. If you play – only for 4 hours. This is not very much because the capacity of the most non-removable battery is only 3000 mAh. But for one day one full charge of the smartphone can be stretched.
Geotel Amigo has a camera with 13 real megapixels with fast autofocus (Samsung 3L8, f / 2.0). The latter liked the work very much, as a result of the photo and video at the output. The focusing speed is declared at 0.3s.
The front photo module is 5 megapixels, and the viewing angle is 84 degrees. Many classmates of Geotel Amigo can only envy the quality of the photos and improves the picture of a powerful dual front camera. The rear double is also capable of much in poor light conditions. Both cameras write in Full HD.
Well, Geotel Amigo, in my opinion, fully justifies its price tag of 100 dollars. It has a large screen, nice body materials, good performance, sufficient camera capabilities. In general, and find fault with nothing, well, except that the small volume of the speakers. So, if you look at the side of compact smartphones with a screen up to 5.5 inches on bare Android 7.0, Amigo should be considered as a possible purchase.
