In today’s era we all use to watch lots of videos on YouTube. Well, almost all of them (If y’all know what I am saying) and that’s the reason why YouTube is now becoming main stream.
It is the second largest search engine behind its parent company Google. Even after being so familiar with the site, we’re still unaware of many awesome tricks it has to offer and that’s exactly what I am going to show you guys.

- Download Any Video within YouTube
There are times when you are watching a video on YouTube and you want to download it so that you can watch it later on or maybe you want to watch it again when you are offline.
In that case we have a very cool trick that lets you download any video from YouTube. You can simply do that by adding “ss” to the URL of the video that you are watching.
For Instance you are watching a video just go to the URL of that video and type “ss” before YouTube just like this and press enter.
This will redirect you to this page from here you can choose your video file type and format, once selected your video will automatically start downloading.
- Enable YouTube New Look & Dark Mode
Google is continuing to roll out its Material Design makeover across its desktop products and it looks like an update to YouTube isn’t too far away.
So if you are impatient as me to try out this new look right now then just head over to your chrome browser and type youtube.com/new and you will see this page, from here click on this TRY IT NOW BUTTON and boom you are done here is the cool new material deigned YouTube which also has a dark mode option and it look really awesome. But in case you ended with this page which says PREVIEW IS CLOSED FOR NOW then don’t worry just try it after sometime and you will surely get it.
Rather than that you also got some new options like restricted mode, content location and language option.
- Watch YouTube Like a Pro (Use Keyboard Shortcut)
Feeling too lazy to reach out to your mouse to navigate through YouTube don’t worry we have got you covered. Do you know there are tons of keyboard shortcuts that you can use to navigate through YouTube without even touching your mouse? And use YouTube like a pro sounds cool, so let’s check out some of the most useful keyboard shortcuts.
Skip or jump in the video
If you want to fast forward or rewind in increments of five seconds, press the left or right arrow keys. If you need to jump more than five seconds then you can try pressing the number keys from 1 to 9 seeks to that percentage of the video. In other words, 1 jumps to 10%, 2 jumps to 20%, 3 jumps to 30%, and so on.
Jump to start or end of a video
Pressing the 0 (zero) key on your keyboard will jump to the beginning of a video. The home key also works for jumping to the start of a video.
And by pressing the end key on your keyboard will go to the end of the video. If you are playing a playlist, it goes to the next video in the playlist.
Turn up and down the volume
Pressing the up or down arrow keys turns up and down the volume of the video. If you are turning down the volume and continue to hold the down arrow key, it will eventually mute the volume.
Additionally you can Press the spacebar or the ‘k’ key on your keyboard to play and pause a video. If you hold down either of these keys the video will play in slow motion. And you can also Press ‘f’ on the keyboard to switch between full-screen and normal mode.
- Start & Share a video at specific time
Last week I was watching a video on YouTube and I found a specific scene of that video very interesting so I thought lets share it with my friends, but the video was very long and I just want to share that specific scene. So I did some research and find a very useful trick that will let you start and share any YouTube video at a specific time.
To do that first note down the exact time of the video that you want to share. Now click on this share button and check this option which says start at, now put the time stamp from where you want to play that video and you are done. Now just share this ULR with your friends and the video will play from that specific time stamp.
- Accurate Keyword Searching
300 hours of videos are uploaded on YouTube every minute and almost 5 billion of videos are watched on YouTube every single day. Now there are times when you are looking for a specific video on YouTube and you can’t remember the exact title of that video then you will search that video with keywords. But do you know there is a very simple tricks to do the same thing.
For instance you can type allintitle: KEYWORD for which you are looking for, this will basically target the KEYWORD and give you the search result that will have that specific KEYWORD in the title.
Another cool thing that you can do is by using MINUS SIGN before any keyword. For instance I want to search all the gameplay videos for CALL OF DUTY but I want to exclude XBOX Gameplay videos. So to do that type CALL OF DUTY –XBOX this will exclude the all the videos that have Xbox in the title.
Similarly you can also combine the search results by using + sign between two keywords.
Additionally if you want to search for the playlist regarding any video then just add playlist in the suffix.
- Get Lyrics of you Favourite song on YouTube
Now I am pretty sure that many of you have been through this situation, when you are listing to your favourite song and you don’t have any idea what the singer is saying and in that situation you will go through Google to search the lyrics. What if I tell you that you can get the lyrics of that particular song without leaving that YouTube page? Yap you heard it right by just installing a chrome extension from misixmatch you can get the lyrics of all your favourite songs on YouTube. Once installed you will get floating lyrics on top of all the music videos you watch on YouTube. Just turn on the captions to see the lyrics in your player.
- Convert YouTube Video into GIFs
Now a day’s animated GIFs are quite popular among social networking site. But did you know that there’s an easy way to make animated GIFs out of your favourite YouTube video? It’s the perfect solution if you’d like to provide a brief preview of a video. Most people would also agree that attention spans are getting shorter, rendering GIFs is a great way to capture your reader’s limited attention. So let’s see how to create GIFs using any YouTube video.
Now first play the video from which you want to create the GIF, after that head over to the URL of the video, from here you just have to make a small change to the ULR. Just add gif before YouTube of that URL like this and press enter. This will basically redirect you to gifyoutube.com which allow you to edit the GIF according to your preference.
Here you will get a timeline to the select the start and end point of the GIF, additionally you will get all the advance options like cropping, padding, captions, blur etc.
Once done you will get the options to download the GIFs or you can also share it with your friends on your social media.
- Access YouTube TV
Now there is a hidden TV mode for YouTube about which many users don’t know. By just typing youtube.com/TV you can access this mode. This is basically same as YouTube but in YouTube TV you will get a new user interface which is specifically designed for your TV, but you can also access it on your PC.
You can control the whole mode with your keyboard. Just press the arrow keys to choose your favourite video and press enter to play it. Different commands are shown in the bottom corner so you can easily navigate your way through YouTube TV. If you don’t feel like using your mouse, you may opt for TV mode and control YouTube with your keyboard.
