Vivo x9 vs DOOGEE MIX: Is Helio P25 able to challenge Snapdragon 625’s hegemony in mid-range market?
Snapdragon 625 was dominating smartphone market last year with a high performance and low consumption. Xiaomi Redmi Note4, vivo X9, Huawei Nova Plus, all the flagships of world renowned brand chose this chipset. Though it’s good, it’s not irreplaceable. We have found that latest MediaTek Helio P25 is no bad but evenly matched with Snapdragon 625. By comparing vivo x9 and bezel-less DOOGEE
Faster cores and lower consumption
The Helio P25 in DOOGEE MIX is a chipset coming in the last quarter of 2016, has four ARM Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.6GHz and other four cores clocked at 2.5GHz. It is higher than the 2.0GHz clock speed in Snapdragon 625, meaning about 70% efficiency improvements in handling multi-tasks or large programs. Moreover, it’s power-saving. The 4+4 architecture saves more energy than a fully loaded eight cores, since it will switch to a lower clock speed when there is no need.
Helio P25 is built on 16nm architecture with FinFET transistors, almost the same with the 14nm technology used in Snapdragon 625. Both of the latest upgraded process helped in volume reduction and power-saving of the chipset. It will also keeps the phone from heating up, even after a long time of using.
That’s why DOOGEE MIX chose Helio P25. The SoC is playing good balance between efficiency and consumption, which is important for a bezel-less smartphone with 5.5” display. The big display always drains the battery without optimized software or hardware. Combining Helio P25, AMOLED display and 3380mAh, the battery life DOOGEE MIX equals Snapdragon 625 with 4000mAh battery.
The AnTuTu scores showed 81704 in DOOGEE MIX versus 62511 in vivo X9.
Other things are better
In other aspects, Helio P25 has a better performance than Snapdragon 625.
For example, Snapdragon 625 uses Adreno 506 GPU clocked at 650MHz while Helio P25 has mali-T880 clocked at 900MHz. It brings much better experience in playing graphics-intensive games like Clash of Clans, Modern Combat, means you will be more comfortable playing games or watching videos with DOOGEE MIX.
The LPDDR4x RAM supported by Helio P25 will be another winning point, comparing with the LPDDR3 in vivo x9. That’s about 100% improvement. DOOGEE MIX will come in 4/6 GB RAM and 64/128 GB internal storage, and vivo x9 offers two variants of 4 GB RAM and 64/128 GB internal storage. The premium compacts will make DOOGEE MIX a most affordable 6GB+64GB smartphone.
Both vivo x9 and DOOGEE MIX has dual camera, with the difference that vivo x9 owns a dual front selfie camera and DOOGEE MIX has dual sensors in the rear. Except for the three bezel less design in DOOGEE MIX will outstands it from other models.
Generally, Helio P25 is no bad even better in some aspects than Snapdragon 625, so we are expecting to make a hands on review on DOOGEE MIX. And it is on pre-order on its official website now, in case you are interested.
