Xiaomi Mi 6 SIM Card Tray Leaks – Watertight Build Indicates 3.5mm Audio Jack Likely Removed

A new leaked image of a set of SIM card trays said to be those of the Xiaomi Mi 5 and Mi 6 have surfaced online. Despite the little importance that we would literally have attached to the SIM trays, they reveal a very vital feature which the Mi 6 would launch with.

A careful look at the SIM card trays of both the Mi 5 and Mi 5 would reveal a marked difference between both trays. While the Mi 5’s tray is slimmer, the Mi 6 SIM card tray is sturdy and thick and this is said to be because the Mi 6 is coming with waterproof and dustproof features.

Putting it explicitly, the Xiaomi Mi 6 is said to come with IP67 level of water and dustproof protection which is why it is having a watertight SIM card tray. The SIM slot is also indicative that the Mi 6 would be a dual SIM smartphone. This latest rumour lends credence to the earlier one that the Mi 6 would not feature the 3.5mm audio jack. The rumour is buttressed by an image of the Xiaomi Bluetooth headphone X which Xiaomi is said to be working on and would be released soon. The Bluetooth headset would function as a wireless headset for the Mi 6. Nothing is certain until the Mi 6 is officially launched which would be sometime in April.
