Still, the recent leaked intimated the codename to be ‘Meri’ which hints that 5C is a 5-inch terminal.

So, could it be the legendary Xiaomi Mi/Redmi SE as the competitor for iPhone SE? Or maybe, there’s no 4-inch smartphone at all.
Will Helio P20 hit the stage with Redmi 4 / Mi 5C?
Whether you like Qualcomm’s Snapdragon or MediaTek’s Helio, the fact is that both SoCs never fails to make an impact. But, MediaTek Helio P (x) series are known for its characteristics as an all-rounder with the stunning performance as well as the energy efficient design. Helio P10 has been on the market for quite a long time and now it’s time for its younger brother to hit the stage. But the question is that which smartphone will be the lucky one to feature MediTek Helio P20?
The benchmark table leaked suggests that if it would be Mi 5C, it will integrate a P20 processor. Even there are rumors that this time, Xiaomi will make their own SoC know as ‘Pinecone.’

Xiaomi Redmi 4 will have a 5-inch screen and instead of featuring 720p resolution will enhance to Full-HD along with 3GB RAM. An octa-core processor @1.8 GHz powers as the heart of the flagships (P10 or Snapdragon 625). Examining its location and budget, we bet a rare hit that it will be Snapdragon 652, but with a greater likelihood of having SD 625 or MediaTek Helio P10. No change in cameras can be seen when matched with Note 4. It’s the same 13 MP Sony rear camera and 5 MP front shooter. Also, the phone built-in 4000mAh battery life should be good enough to last a day on a single charge. Xiaomi Redmi 4 also runs on the Android 6.0.1 (MIUI 8) with a storage of 32GB (no expansion).
Meanwhile, Mi 5C will sport a 5.1-inch display and would be powered by an Octa-core 2.2GHz processor which is believed to be the MediaTek Helio P20 chipset. The device is also said to tag along with a 3GB RAM and 64GB of built-in storage and a rear camera which supports Optical image stabilization. The device is also revealed by the on-screen specs as running Android 6.0.1 based on MIUI 8.
Here’s a table illustrating the different between both flagships:

Release Date and Lei Jun’s Surprise
To be honest with you, there’s no official confirmation about the release date of Redmi 4 and Mi 5C. However, Lei Jun said that Xiaomi Mi Note 2 would come up with a surprise. Recently, Xiaomi officially released a poster which stated that October 25 is the launch date of Mi Note 2. This means that it’s the same date of the surprise (Xiaomi Redmi 4 / Mi 5C) which Xiaomi’s CEO was speaking of. The confusion is that whether Xiaomi Mi 5C, Redmi 4 or something else will release on October 25.
One thing is sure that Lei Jun’s statement has created our anticipation of reaching a whole new level. If one is issued with Mi Note 2, then the other will hit the market at the end of the year.
Price and Availability
With tremendous specs different, no doubt Redmi 4 will be way cheaper than Mi 5C. It will be around 699 yuan ($105). Meanwhile, Mi 5C will be around 1699 yuans ($252). Probably, Xiaomi Mi 5C will be expense due to that ultrasonic fingerprint reader, P20 and glass body.
We just have to wait and see which smartphone has a better impact on the market.
