Owning
It is mainly focused on the students who can use a tablet to get their projects done with the help of the detachable keyboard. The product is priced at 0 but provides premium features for the price. It has Bluetooth connectivity, multiple touch support and comes with a webcam on the screen like most other tablets. If you are considering to buy the device, then move to Target stores which are the only place you will find these on sale.
It is a reasonable design 10.1-inch tablet with a simple design. It has a logo like Apple tablets printed on the back side. The thickness is 0.95 inches and width of 7.4 inches. When the detachable keyboard is removed, the thickness is just 0.45 inch. It is also very light measuring 1.46 pounds without the keyboard and an extra 1.44 with the keyboard. The features are comparable to other top hybrids in the market like the Acer Aspire Switch 10. The simple nondescript design is the key factor of the device, and it is all enclosed in a plastic housing and the soft-touch finishing give a good grip. The total weight is kept less than 3 pounds as an optimal traveling device.
The processor enclosed in the instrument is quad-core Intel Atom 5-Z8300 with a memory space of 2GB. Storage space is 32 GB but can be upgraded to even 160 GB using a microSD card as it comes with a microSD card slot. The maximum add-on capacity is with a 128GB SD card. High speed is ensured with the 3-Axis G-sensor which provides for quick gameplay, Wifi connectivity and Bluetooth 4.0.
One of the noted drawbacks has been the stingy availability of ports. On the left side, there is a micro USB port, a micro HDMI output port, and a headphone jack. According to reviewers, the worst design has been the concept of using a dedicated charging port when most other best tablets use the micro USB port for charging. The charger is also a feeble looking thin, short wire gauge. It seems that it won’t survive frequent travels or even a small mishap with the charging cord and being a dedicated one, you will have to buy the same adaptor.
The company assures eight hours of standard battery time on full charge powered by a 7000mAh battery of 3.7V. The 10.1inch resolution is indeed an advancement over the earlier Nextbook 8 version with the In-Plane Switching IPS panel. The screen resolution is 1280X800 pixels and is equipped with a multi-touch display facility. The connection between the keyboard and the tablet is maintained using a magnetically attaching port. You do not have to pull at the port to release the keyboard and can simply lift the connector. But this does not mean that the attachment is feeble. The connection holds fast even when the docked tablet is raised. This is not the kind of tablet for speaker usage as there are small speakers with less power. There have also been concerns raised by reviewers over the distortion experienced when the volume is increased. It is mostly like a tin can sound and this is not experienced on low volume in a quiet surrounding.
Even though there is a built-in webcam, the resolution is just 2MP. The front facing cam is a VGA cam. So you won’t be able to create quality images or video recordings, but serves the purpose for video calls. It comes with a built-in microphone making it an excellent choice for VOIP calls. The micro HDMI port also allows for streaming the videos through the output port.
Final Note
When compared to the earlier Nextbook 8 series, the new one is a bigger size with a better keyboard size. A better display has been incorporated with the IPS system. The storage space has also been tweaked up and makes a perfect choice for a cheap and good quality 2-in-1 tablet.
