What can be better than having a night out at the cinema? You’ve guessed it, bringing the cinema to your home. For the best home theater, you are going to need a projector and might we say that the Excelvan CL720D would make a perfect choice. Before the device came to our office, we were super excited about this product because we are real cinephiles. We have enjoyed in Excelvan CL720D for a couple of days and written all about its benefits and shortcomings. Packaging
Excelvan CL720D is pretty beefy, and naturally we were frightened that it would break during the shipment, but luckily everything is tightly packed, and it turned alright in the end. In the box, there are crucial things for operating with the device like remote, user manual in Chinese and English, several cables, adapter, fuse, even the cloth for lens cleaning. The company has supplied everything right out of the box, and the only thing you have to buy are the batteries for the remote controller.

Design and Build quality of the Excelvan CL720D
Right from the start we saw that this device is built very nice, and the company did not save on materials from which it’s made. It is quite robust and reasonably weighty with its 3.3 kilograms, but it can easily fit into any backpack if you wish to carry it around. The product is available in two colors, black and white, and you can pick the one the suits your style better. On the front side, there is air went for cooling the device (there is one on every side), a sensor for the remote controller and protruded lens cover.
The back side of the projector houses the speaker that offer a high-quality sound which is relatively loud as well. The other speaker is located on the right side of the projector.
On the top side of the Excelvan CL720D, there are some keys for operating the device; power button, menu button, source, as well as volume and channel changing keys.
On the bottom of the device, there are tiny legs by which you can control the tilt of the device simply by screwing them in or out. The power switch is located on the back side of the device along with Keystone, power outlet and a few different kind of video outlets. The USB ports are located on the back of the device as well.
The remote controller is very light, not too big and it feels very comfortable to hold in the hand.
There is a large number of keys (52 to be exact) on the remote; they feel very soft to press and are made out of rubber. The remote needs three AAA batteries to operate and you have to buy them separately because they are not included in the box. The overall impression about the Excelvan CL720D projector from the design perspective is excellent because it looks beautiful and professionally made.
Picture quality
The device outputs 1280×800 resolution video, but it has support for up to FULL HD 1920×1080 video playback. Benefits of the LED technology include an excellent brightness level (3000 lumens) and very good contrast level with 2000:1 contrast ratio. The device supports native 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios which are ideal for movie watching as well as old TV shows. The picture can be projected onto a wall or canvas with size up to 200-Inch. You need to know that image quality degrades as larger the playing surface becomes. We have tested the device from the distance of three meters, and it outputted a solid quality image onto a wall in our office. Keep in mind that image sharpness must be adjusted manually by turning the lens. This projector doesn’t offer real 3D support, but you can watch 3D movies with blue and red glasses. Of course, the effect is not the same, but we were pleasantly surprised by it. Excelvan CL720D offers a pretty good image quality that is close enough to professional projectors. The only flaw may be the small resolution by today’s standards because many projectors can output FULL HD resolution natively. The thing is, those projectors can be several times more expensive than this one, and we can’t argue with that fact.
Connectivity
Excelvan CL720D offers an abundance of connectivity options; it has 2 USB ports, AV ports, VGA input, TV input, and 2 HDMI ports. You can connect anything from antenna, laptop, gaming console, flash memory and HDD to your smartphone via the MHL function. From the connectivity side, this device is every geek’s dream.
Excelvan CL720D Ease of Usage
Excelvan CL720D is pretty straightforward when it comes to ease of usage. You can control the device with buttons on top or via the remote if you are distant from it. Main menu, submenus or other options are quite clear, and you can switch between 23 of built in languages if you have any troubles to “decipher” some options. A great feature that manufacturer of this projector offers is adding any additional language that customer requires. Neither young children or elderly people had any troubles of using the device. It means that Excelvan did a great job with optimization of the projector so it can be used with ease by everybody.

Our opinion
Even before we got this product for reviewing, we were ecstatic. After several days spent in the comfort of our office watching movies we were even more thrilled. Excelvan CL720D is a great product in every possible way. Ok, the native output resolution can seem a bit small but, for the money invested in this product, you will get years and years of fun.
