Huawei Watch Unboxing & Overview

Huawei officially announced the Huawei Smartwatch to China in an event held at the Shanghai Expo Center. The Huawei Watch is Huawei’s first smartwatch. Huawei also announced various models of the Watch at the event, the Black Model with a Leather strap, a Stainless Steel model with a woven band, and also a Brown Crocodile Leather Strap.


One of the biggest features of the Huawei Watch that stands out is the bezel-less round display (or dial), which uses the Sapphire Glass for protection, has a classic watch crown, which is button that can be pushed to select various things in the menu. The Huawei Watch uses a 18mm strap, which is a standard in the watch industry, which means that the strap can be replaced with any other strap you like.


The specifications of the Huawei Watch are : 42mm dial/screen, which is equal to a 1.4-inch 400*400 AMOLED display with a pixel density of 286 pixels/inch (286PPI), uses a 1.6mm frame which is extremely narrow and the screen alone accounts for 72% of the whole device. All the components like the crown, bezel, the rear case etc are made of the machined 316L Stainless steel.


The Huawei Watch is powered by the Qualcomm APQ8026 Processor which is clocked at 1.5GHz, backed by 512-MB of RAM, and 4-GB of internal storage for apps and data, has support for Wifi and Bluetooth 4.1. The Huawei Watch also has a series of gyroscopes, accelerometers, barometers, vibration motor, and a PPG Heart Rate Sensor for health and fitness tracking.


The Huawei Watch also has an in-built microphone and a speaker which allows users to make and receive calls, make voice commands etc. All of this is backed by a 300mAh battery which can be charged via a magnetic charger which is included in the box, and it takes around an hour and a half (90 minutes) to fully charge the battery of the Huawei Watch, and the battery lasts two days with normal use. The Huawei Watch is also water and dust resistant with IP67 Rating.


The Huawei Watch runs on Android Wear, which means that the user can install QQ, Alipay, Baidu Maps etc (All Chinese centric software).


The Steel Huawei Watch with Braided strap retails for 2588 Yuan (Aprix $400 USD), and the Black Huawei Watch with the Leather Strap retails for 2388 Yuan (Approx $350 USD), and finally the Stainless Steel Huawei Watch with the Crocodile Leather Strap retails for 3288 Yuan (Approx $550 USD).
