More Snapdragon 820 benchmarks have appeared with impressive single-core results

More benchmarking results of Snapdragon 820 have emerged thanks to a Chinese source and not only will we be able to witness scores of the upcoming chipset, there are other scores belonging to other smartphone SoCs, with Apple A9 included in the batch as well. Snapdragon 820 is expected to be found in mobile devices during the first quarter of 2016 and thanks to being processed on Samsung’s 14nm FinFET, it appears that the chip might not suffer from overheating issues any longer.

Here are more Snapdragon 820 results showing that the upcoming chipset can perform very well in the single-core tests

Coming to the benchmarks, Snapdragon 820, the chipset’s performance was measured using Geekbench, which happens to be a very popular benchmarking application for mobile devices. Qualcomm’s upcoming flagship chipset scores very impressively in the single-core tests, but sadly, it is not able to perform as well in the multi-core tests.

In the single-core test, the chip is able to outperform Exynos 7420, which is also made on the same 14nm FinFET process, but is unable to beat it in the multi-core tests. Surprisingly, Snapdragon 810, which is supposed to be slower than its successor is also able to beat Snapdragon 820 in the multi-core test, which gives us the impression that the upcoming chipset might be a downclocked version of the original one that we will be seeing in the future.

When we decided to take a closer inspection of the test results, Snapdragon 820 was running a quad-core at a speed of 1.6GHz, along with 4GB of RAM. While 4GB sounds like an ideal number of RAM to be present in a smartphone powered by a Snapdragon 820, we will still wait for more scores to appear before coming to a conclusion.

According to My Drivers, out of all the chipsets, Apple A9 is the best performer in the single-core test results, which was expected because the company’s SoCs have been outperforming those present in Android mobile devices for quite some time now. Given below are all the summarized versions of the test results.
