Meizu’s new brand ‘PRO’ now official

Meizu, today at a press conference announced a new brand for their high-end phones dubbed ‘PRO’.

This ads to the list of Meizu’s brands, Maizu, MX, and now PRO. This new addition covers all the high-end, mid-range, and budget smartphones across the market.

Meizu’s vice president, Nan, declared that “A lot of consumer hugh-end smartphone OEM’s are blindly following the trend, rather than to really solve the fundamental problems”

“Many of the domestic flagship devices are using Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, but the user experience sucks, consumers are often being fooled, sadly, no one in the industry is ready to tell the truth, but Meizu hopes that by publishing this sub-brand ‘PRO’ they change this status” He adds.

Meizu also announced that they will be holding a press conference on September 25, to launch the company’s new flagship PRO 5. Rumored to be high-end with two versions, one with Samsung’s Exynos 7420, and one with MediaTek’s Helio X20 MT6797 Deca-Core processor. While the phone has a metal uni-body design and a 2.5D Arc Glass, it strongly resembles the MX5.

Meizu’s Founder Bai Yongxiang previously mentioned a 2K is in the works, for the next wave of flagships. But for now, it seems like 1080P is still the standard.

Leaked specs from Ann Bunny point towards a 5.5″ Display, 3/4GB RAM, 32GB Internal Storage, 21MP Camera, and a 3,000mAh Battery.
