Mysterious QiKU handset images appear; 1080p resolution and 4G modem listed

For a very long time we have heard about the smartphone company QiKU that was formed as a result of the collaboration taking place between Chinese security firm Qihoo 360 (which also made a sizable investment in HTC) and Coolpad. QiKU is expected to release a smartphone in the coming weeks and thanks to the latest string of leaked images, we finally have an idea of what to expect from the upcoming handset.

Starting off, the smartphone is going to feature a screen size of 5.5 inches that will render a resolution of 1080p. The great thing about this handset is that the company is not going overboard with the resolution, like some companies do by incorporating 1440p displays. Users will be able to get the most out of their smartphones in terms of battery life. Moving on, we have also found out that the upcoming device is also going to feature a 4G modem.

However, the source did not state whether or not the 4G modem will be running at frequencies that are compatible with foreign networks. If the modem is compatible with foreign networks, then it will allow the company to bring its product to other markets and generate even more revenue. From what have learned so far thanks to the emergence of other leaks, the smartphone is going to be running a Snapdragon 808 SoC.

A more suitable chipset would have been MediaTek’s Helio X20, since it features Cortex-A72 cores and will deliver more performance compared to Snapdragon 808, and Snapdragon 810. Additionally, it is also possible that the upcoming smartphone will be sporting 3GB of RAM. No doubt these specifications look very impressive, and seeing that the product comes from a Chinese OEM, the price tag of the smartphone will definitely be affordable in order to cater to a wider audience.

Looks like we are going to have to wait a little while longer to see what the mysterious QiKU smartphone has in store for us in terms of both hardware, features, and price tag. Hopefully, we will not be left disappointed.
