Redmi 2 Price Slashed In China And India: Will Cost Under $100

Leading Chinese smartphone vendor Xiaomi has released a number of smart gadgets this year, including smart ACs, smarts lamps and smart wrist-bands, to name just a few. But the company’s bread and butter remains its smartphones, and one of the handsets it has released, happens to be the entry-level Redmi 2 smartphone, which was announced back in January this year.

The device has replaced the Redmi 1S, which holds its pride of place in the history of the company as one of its best-selling gadgets ever. The company is now said to be prepping the launch of the third generation of its Redmi smartphone, which has led it to slash prices of the second-gen Redmi 2 in its two biggest markets – China and India.
In China, Xiaomi has reduced the price of the Redmi 2 by 100 Yuan ($17), and the device now costs only 599 Yuan ($97). The Redmi 2 was launched in India back in March for a price of Rs. 7,000 ($115), and the price of the phone has now been slashed by Rs. 1,000 ($16). The phone will now retail for only Rs. 5,999 in the country. Xiaomi had also reduced the price of the Redmi Note 4G by Rs. 2,000 ($32) in India last week, and it now costs Rs. 7,999 ($126), down from the launch price of Rs. 9,999 (160). So if you were eyeing the Redmi 2 or the Note 4G either in India or China, now would be your chance.

The Redmi is offered for purchase in Black and White color options, and it is now available for 599 Yuan ($97) in China and Rs. 5,999 ($95) in India. It is available for purchase via Xiaomi’s official webstore in China, whereas its being sold on multiple Indian online retail stores alongside Mi.com in India.
