Brand New Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Screen Vs Walnut. Who Wins?

From time to time, you hear stories that make you wonder whether to laugh or cry. As American science-fiction author Mr. Robert A. Heinlein once said, “Never underestimate the power of human stupidity”. If you were not convinced of that saying before, you will be now. Read on.

Earlier today, the owner of a catering business in the Xian Province, Mr. Gao, bought a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge for 6288 Yuan (around $1000) from a Samsung authorized retail outlet. While he was buying the phone, he chanced upon a looping video being played on an LCD screen in the store, which espoused the strength of the screen of the device, protected by Gorilla Glass 4. In the promotional video, the screen of the S6 Edge was shown to have smashed a walnut, without cracking the screen. The video apparently, did not come with a statutory “Do not try this at home” type of warning.

So Mr. Gao, having bought the phone, actually tried to give this walnut breaking thing a shot. You know, ‘cuz it’s a thing. Breaking walnuts with your fragile smartphone screens. Yee-Haw! Something however tells me, this thing might not exactly catch on, unlike the ALS ice-bucket challenge, but then again, what do I know?

So with his friends and employees witnessing the magical feat, Mr. Gao decided to give the poor nut a good old whack job. Nothing happened at first, but Mr. Gao was seemingly quite familiar with the old adage “if at first you don’t succeed, try, try again”. So our resident genius did try again – multiple times. Of course, every one of our enlightened readers have pretty much guessed by now, how this one ended, but just for the sake of full reportage, let me spell it out anyways. Walnut 1 – Galaxy S6 Edge 0. There, I said it.

Subsequently, our 21st century Einstein came back to the store to demand a brand new replacement. Needless to say, the manager wasn’t amused, as you can see from the images below. Moral of the story? The Galaxy S6 Edge may or may not be a great phone, but it certainly isn’t idiot proof.
