Xiaomi About To Launch Mi 4i In China For 899 Yuan ($150)
UPDATE: June 18 – Leaksfly has just broken the news that the Xiaomi Mi 4i has indeed been earmarked for domestic sale in China for an amazingly low price of 899 Yuan ($150). While it does sound a bit too good to be true, its not exactly impossible, now that the standard edition Redmi Note is selling for 699 Yuan, and the enhanced version for 799 Yuan.

EARLIER: On Wednesday afternoon, a new Xiaomi phone was spotted on the website of TENAA, which could be the Xiaomi 4i, according to speculation in the Chinese media. The phone listed on TENAA doesn’t come with a name, but only bears a model number – 2014815. According to the listing on the regulator’s website, the phone measures 138.5 mm x 70 mm, and is only 7.82 mm thick. The battery on the device is rated at 3030 mAh, and the phone comes with support for TD-LTE / LTE FDD / TD-SCDMA / WCDMA / GSM. The phone also supports the dual-SIM functionality. The phone looks like a Mi Note from the back, but comes with a plastic rear shell unlike the Mi Note and the Mi Note Pro, both of which come with a metallic built.
It’s worth remembering that the Mi 4i was originally unveiled in India back in April by Mr. Lei Jun, for a price of Rs. 12,999 ($210), which is the equivalent of about 1263 Yuan. The phone was subsequently released in Hong Kong, and priced at 1599 HK dollars, which is about 1280 Yuan. The phone was also launched in Singapore and some other markets, but was not in mainland China. The phone has almost identical measurements as compared to the one listed on TENAA’s website, and what’s more, both come with 3030 mAh batteries.
As for the Xiaomi’s Mi 4i, the phone comes with a 5-inch display, with a resolution of 1920 x 1080. The device is powered by Qualcomm’s 64-bit Snapdragon 615 SoC, which has an integrated octa-core 1.7 GHz CPU and an Adreno 405 GPU. The device comes with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage. The rear camera on the device comes with a 13 MP sensor and the front camera has a 5 MP sensor. The battery capacity on the device, as mentioned earlier, is 3030 mAh. The phone also comes with dual SIM, dual Standby functionality, and runs MIUI 6 on top of Android 5.0 Lollipop.
It will be interesting to see if Xiaomi is indeed fixing to launch the Mi 4i in its home country, what with its next generation flagships rumored to have been postponed by the delay in the ETA of Qualcomm’s new 3D fingerprint scanner.
