Xiaomi Mi 5S With Under Glass Fingerprint Scanner Spotted in Photos

The Xiaomi Mi 5S will be the first ‘under glass’ fingerprint scanner smartphone in the world. We have learned this a few days ago, but as you guess other manufacturer won’t leave Xiaomi alone. I mean this technology seems to be more acceptable, therefore smartphone makers having larger market share will do their best to adopt this technology as well. Though the Xiaomi Mi 5S has been leaked in photos showing stunning design elements and claiming the presence of ultrasonic fingerprint, seems another handset is coming our way with Qualcomm Sense ID ultrasonic fingerprint scanner as well as great dual-camera features.

The Xiaomi Mi 5S is awaited to be launched at any moment. It’s said to be packed with a list of eye-catching specs like a Snapdragon 821 CPU, the latest processor of the company, 2.5D screen and so on. But at the moment seems the Mi 5S will be launched with its sibling dubbed as the Mi 5S Plus.

As for the original Xiaomi Mi 5S, it will be equipped with a 5.15-inch 1080P display, Snapdragon 821 SoC, 4GB/6GB of RAM, a 12MP rear camera with Sony’s IMX378 sensor, and ultrasonic fingerprint scanner under glass. The next model, the Xiaomi Mi 5S Plus should sport a 5.7-inch 2K display, the same Snapdragon 821 processor clocked at 2.15GHz, 4GB/6GB of RAM, a 12MP rear camera with Sony’s IMX378 sensor + OIS, and the Qualcomm Sense ID ultrasonic fingerprint scanner.

The original Xiaomi Mi 5S is rumored to be available for $447, but I don’t think this price tag will be set for the Mi 5S Plus version. The latter sports better features, therefore it will cost more.

Anyway, now let’s take a glance at the most possible competitor of the Xiaomi Mi 5S. Earlier we have heard the Huawei P10, the successor of the much popular P9 will come with a front fingerprint scanner. Many users didn’t know what this means and though the company will put this feature under the home button like the iPhone 6S. This caused many discussion and many geeks were claiming it’s more convenient to put a fingerprint scanner on the rear panel of a device. However, it turns out Huawei has adopted this technology and we’ll see it on the upcoming Huawei P10. But the latter is rumored to be launched only in 2017, because the Huawei P10 will also sport a dual Leica cameras, the first camera of this category in the world. Shortly, it will come with an UltraPixel technology at 1.55 µm pixel size that is much larger than its predecessor offers (the Huawei P9 comes with a 1.25 µm pixel size). Plus, the Huawei P10’s camera should feature dual-PDAF + OIS making the photos taken by this camera cleaner and brighter. Thus, Huawei is going to surpass all its competitors including Apple by launching a cameraphone packed with all the latest features such as under glass fingerprint scanner. But as the Xiaomi Mi 5S and its advanced version dubbed as the Mi 5S Plus are at a few days of launch, I guess it will benefit a lot before Huawei and Apple come in with similar technology.
