This afternoon, Xiaomi officially released the mi 4C in a news conference held at China National Convention Center.
The launch of 4C was less of a surprise because it was already leaked on various online platforms including Twitter. One of the analysts, Pan Jiutang said ” The company executives had released the info on configuration and leaked photos on twitter before the release”.
Mi 4C is not entirely a new product, it is 4i’s upgrade. The 4i is very successful in the international markets such as India, Hong Kong and Singapore. Now the company has taken a step forward to introduce a more developed phone.
The use of Xiao Dragon 615 processor is relatively common, which even Mi 4i used at it’s core. But now domestic customers want much more powerful processor. So Xiaomi decided to include powerful Qualcomm processor inside Mi 4C. Also infrared remote control, Netcom and other interesting features are added to the phone.
The mi 4C has a 5-inch 1080p display, mycophenolate mofetil 8,086 Dragon processor, built-in 2/3GB memory and 16/32GB storage. The camera provides a 5 MP front-wide angle and 13 MP rear camera. It runs on a 3080mAh battery and MIUI7 chipset supporting Android 5.1.1 or higher. It features dual SIM, Netcom and infrared remote control interface for USB Type-C
Mi 4i on the othe hand is equipped with Xiao 615 processor. It does not support fast charging, infrared control and Telcom. Rest of the specifications perfectly match with 4C.
By comparison, we can obviously see Mi 4i is upgraded to Xiaomi Mi 4C. Also the price is also basically the same.

Xiaomi had previously emphasized that the version of Android MIUI is not important. But it is possible that to ensure smooth user experience it will allow upgrades to later versions of Android kernel.
Another good news is that Xiaomi has yesterday received Android beta version. Note that testing for stability will gradually push the development into stable versions. In addition, the Xiaomi should not abandon upgrade of other models that would have older Android version in coming times.
This time the phone gets 3GB of physical memory and 32GB storage space with a upgraded processor while the company had started up with mi 4 having 1.5GB of memory.In addition it is important to note what Lei said at a presentation ceremony about the mi 4C stocks have been produced in advance due to rising demand.
MIUI 7 defines mi’s fluency of smooth transitions without visible droppings of frames. The main difference between Mi 4C and previous versions is the double click wake.
Mi 4C incorporates edge touch feature that makes the phone operational along the borders of the screen.This allows to perform the common operations in a smooth way.
To click a photo, tap the left and right borders of the phone to launch the shutter. Also self timer feature for taking automatic photos is convenient. To browse a web page, twice tap the side of the phone to quickly return to the previous content. It is so fast, efficient and simple for the user to operate with 4c.
Edge touch control feature is located in a separate option in the system settings which is easy to find. Open click photos and double click on quick returns. Both of these features are usually turned off by default, and require users to manually switch them ON.
After you click a photo you see a similar iPhone interface with dot button. This button appears based on the current frame position of the phone. When the position of the finger changes, the dot position also changes accordingly.
Double click on the system setup menu, click on “show option, defauft is closed, which requires uses to open their own.
The wake up time of Mi 4C after a double click was measured by us. We found that the screen lit up instantly after the clicks. This feature is useful when users dont want to click the power button again to see their screen.
Here we take a look at mi 4C run performance
At full power state, mi 4C ran 46758, MT6795 and Yu Xiaolong 801. Because of the presence of Cortex-A57 core, Xio lung 808 is stronger than MT6795 in terms of day to day performance.
To our surprise, mi 4C did not come down in its performance even after we increased the load. We guess that run time sharing of threads is already ON in the processor.
Due to the time constraints, I did not test many games. I expect the more demanding games should put cores into function during run time.
4C uses same quick charge function of Qualcomm’s fast-charging 2.0 technology.
The company offers chargers with 5V/2A, 9V/1.2A and 12V/1A specifications. Due to the lack of testing equipment, I can’t yet judge the mi 4C full on power.
At this time, mi 4C battery has charged for approximately 2 hours and there is little more to complete. Honestly this is not good charing time for a fast charger phone. However compared to other phones it has been very good.
The camera mi 4C camera has greatly improved, compared to 4I. It uses 13 million susuoni S5K3M2 IMX258/Samsung sensor and camera module Ou Feiguang/sunny optical support phase focusing. Mr. Lei quoted that IMX258 used in 4C is an upgraded version of IMX214.
Due to lack of time, I shot pictures from mi 4C in a daily set of lighting conditions. I took these photos in the hotel living room.
Overall, the upgrade was done with a reason. The new mi 4C added with Netcom 2.0, edge touch control, infrared remote control, USB Type-C functions will be a magic spell on the customes. It will be a part of most demanded phones in any market. However, the lack of metal design and fingerprint recognition feature could shy away some of the customers as well.
