Is There Snapdragon 821 CPU in Xiaomi Mi 5S?

When talking about the Xiaomi Mi 5S and Mi 5S Plus specs list we proudly mention they are packed with the latest Snapdragon 821 SoC made in the US. But let’s look at the parameters of this chip for both models and find out what’s the difference, and what’s more important whether it is faster than the previous model, the Snapdragon 820.

As we know, the Xiaomi Mi 5S sports a Snapdragon 821 proccessor clocked at 2.15GHz, while its sibling, the Xiaomi Mi 5S Plus comes with the same CPU running at the highest frequency, 2.35GHz. Plus, the GPU frequencies of both devices are different as well. The original Mi 5S clocks at 624MHz, while the advanced version runs at 653MHz. The GPU model of the Snapdragon 821 is MSM8996, while it is MSM8996 for the Snapdragon 821.

Well, seems the Xiaomi Mi 5S has similar features with the Xiaomi Mi 5. Thus the manufacturer has made no changes in the fresh version of this phone. But do not hurry to judge it. The secret is in the boosted frequency of the Snapdragon 820 found on the original Mi 5, while the Mi 5S runs on a regular frequency. This simply means the Xiaomi Mi 5S will provide better performance than its predecessor.

So every time you are asked whether there is a real difference between these models, you can calmly say the fresher version is capable of doing more functions and providing faster performance than the original Xiaomi Mi 5. On the other hand, the Mi 5S comes with better hardware than its predecessor. So though there are many similar features coming with the Mi 5S, but the manufacturer has made it better.
